Okay, so I just came up with this today. It's more of a time-saver and a space-saver than a flavour hack.
I'll be referring to this recipe I posted yesterday. It's very easy.
Quarter some mushrooms and lay them out on a foil-lined pan. Make slits or poke holes in the sausages and lay them on the mushrooms. You bake them as the same as the other recipe, 350 degrees Fahrenheit, turn sausages after 5 minutes and bake for 5 more minutes. Afterwards, flip the sausages again and broil for 5 minutes, turning it once again halfway through. Let them cool for a little while, because they are super hot when served immediately.
So basically, since sausages are full of fat, when they cook the fat comes out right? So when the mushrooms are underneath, they absorb it and cook!
It turned out really nice, the mushrooms didn't get any of sausage's flavour but it was cooked perfectly. It had a meaty and juicy texture.
